21 Short Paragraphs
Pencil-drawing, 2003

"The work originate from short paragraphs from the daily paper, which are enlarged and copied by hand with graphite on paper to a very exact text-drawing. The stories are of the character that they won’t be anything more than a short paragraph, there will never be any newspaper placards. They deal with incidents of sexual molestation that may be of decisive importance for the human being that are subjected, but in the historical flow rapidly flicker by. This is reality, but it is so brutal or absurd that seeing it outside it’s context, the newspaper, we believe it is made up. Taken together this pictures a state of power.

You read the newspaper in the morning and throw it away in the evening. The artist pays attention to a short story that only was passing by. Also the making, the slowly drawing with pencil, contributes to slow down the impression of the incident. When you see the picture and discover that the text is not printed but drawn, the thinking in grooves already has changed a bit.
The photographs do not show the incident but describes the place where it all happened: a bus, a square, a staircase. The incident can thereby be freely re-created in the imagination of the observer.”

Hi Roxane!

You have previously been informed that you have received payment for too many hours, an error caused by no deductions having been made for your brakes. The agreement was that you would repay half of the amount, and that The Grand Hôtel would cover the second half.

Since you have not worked since then, and have no upcoming shifts, we have no figures to deduct the debt from. Because of this we ask you to repay the debt to us as soon as possible. The amount is 1.466:94 SEK.
